A winter house you can wear.
Shanakh is our homage to the Chitrali shepherd’s cloak – a piece that holds weather, memory and belonging on its surface. Cut from dense hand-woven Shu in natural black or crème, the cape wraps the body in a soft, architectural silhouette. On the outside, appliquéd botanicals and crochet braids wander like footpaths across a night hillside, punctuated with tiny hand-embroidered gold stars. On the inside, a quilted garden of block-printed cotton waits against the skin.
Made slowly between mountain homes and village workshops, Shanakh carries the touch of many hands: wool shorn from endangered Kari sheep, spun and woven by Kho families in Garam Chashma; motifs cut, stitched and edged by women artisans working with Làlgar Foundation; dyes drawn from walnut husk, beetroot and high-altitude plants. Each cape is a small landscape of place, skill and story.
